Need information from anyone who can add to my data for this couple. Briefly, here is what I have.
John Dove or O. Moss, married possibly on 7-9-1841, not sure what county. They had at least these children:
Leella Lewis Moss, b: 5-17-1843, supposedly in Albemarle Co. She married Marcellus Dabney Thurston on 8-15-1858 in Kanawha County, (W)VA.
Alice Moss, who is said to have married a Bourne.
Charles Moss, b: about 1847. I don't know the name of the woman he married, but I was told he had at least two sons:
Frank and Compton
Andrew Moss - no further information
I was not able to locate John and Catharine on the 1850 Census for Virginia. However, on the 1850 Census for Louisa County, their daughter, Ella, was enumerated with the family of Thomas G. and Caroline Noel. They were shown as:
Noel, Thomas G., head
", Caroline, wife
", Mary
", Angelina
", Warner
", William

Sims, Catharine* See question about her below.
What, if any, relation to Thomas and Caroline, were Ella Moss and Catharine Sims? I found record of Thomas' death in "Louisa County, VA Death Records 1853-1891, page 52. He was shown as 52, white, 75 years, parents unknown, born in Essex County, VA, married died 5-14-1858, cause of death "gravel." His death was reported by Warner M. Noel, his son.
"Louisa County, Virginia Marriage Bonds," page 73, gives the date for the marriage of Thomas and Caroline as 10-14-1823. This provided the full name of Caroline as Caroline M. G. Harris
*Note re Catharine Sims - When Catharine (Brown) Moss's sister, Nancy, married Robert B. Thurston in Goochland County in 1830, no parents' names were shown, but a William Brown was surety, no relationship was shown. In following up on various William Browns in the vicinity of Goochland, I ran across a Mrs. William Brown, 47, enumerated in Ashland, Hanover County (1880 Census). Also residing with her was a daughter, Evaline M. Simms, 27, and her husband, John W. Simms, 33, and the Simms' three children. I wonder if anyone can tell me if these hook up with the family of John and Catharine (Brown) Moss and/or the Catharine Sims enumerated with the Noel family.
