Suzannah, thanks for offering to search for tithables of Loudoun County. My ancestor is George (Lawson) Stapleton. In Nancy Fletcher's well supported book about "Some Early Settlers of Georgia: Stapletons, Beatys, and Peels" George Lawson Stapleton is her main man and she claims he was born 21 December 1760 in Loudoun County, VA. She did not give specifics and could not name his parents. Others claim his parents may have been Johann George (Charles) Stapleton and wife Sarah. Charles and Sarah were part of the Lutheran migration from PA to VA in the mid 1700s. George had siblings: William, Hannah, Elizabeth and Sarah.

I need verification of his parents names including Sarah's (Lawson?)and presence in Loudoun area in about 1760.

Are there tithables for Charles (or Johann George) Stapleton? They were married in Shenandoah area in 1754.

Thanks. Art Stapleton
