My search is for TWO Barton Hoopers.
Barton m/Catherine ______________.
They were in Jefferson Co., Ohio by 1820 with children:
Benjamin b/1800 VA m/Harriet Cowgill/Choguill b/1806 VA;
Lemule b/1804 Jefferson Co., Ohio m/Sophia Saltkiln;
William b/1807 Jeff. Co m/Margaret Millhorn;
Margaret b/1811 Jeff Co. m/Robert Simms;
Thomas no data
David no data
Thomas b/about 1827
Hannah m/George W. Sanborn.

The other Barton m/Margaret Ward in Loudoun Co., VA. They may have had two daughters. (Perhaps others) Lucinda m/Marshall B. Finch and Martha C. In Fairfax Co. VA.

In 1802, a Barton Hooper in Fairfax, VA was licensed to operate an 'ordinary' on his property on Centreville Road. What is an 'ordinary' and why does one need a licence?

ANY connection with ANY of the above?
Audrey
