Laura, thanks for your reply. It is nice to find a descendent of one you have heard of. I, too, have Hurley's book, and know the episode to which you are referring. It does seem funny now, to us, with a harsh punishment.

The earliest we can find our possible ancestor is a Purdum from Greene Co. Pa, Thomas, who married Tamar Hibbs, daughter of Jacob Hibbs. Jacob was in Louden Co. Va. too. We do not know who was the father of Thomas. If you know of any connection with these people to Benjamin or his brothers I would appreciate hearing about it.
