Hello John thanks for your response to my query on genforum. Maria & William were married
20 Mar 1843 in Shelbourne Parish cited in Marriages of Loudoun County, VA,
1757 1853, Mary Alice Wertz, p. 159.

Loudoun Co. Death Register 1853-1896 by Frain and Hiatt: Wm. Varney, white male, d. 6 Jan 1853 nr. Purcellville of concussion brain at 49y., parents unknown, b. England,
tailor, consort of Mariah Varny, source George W. Noland, friend.

William died 30 Oct 1909 of heart disease and Mary Elizabeth in 1928. They are buried in Bethel Cemetery, Alexandria, Va. as cited in Tombstone Inscriptions of Alexandria, Virginia, Vol. 4 by Wesley E. Pippenger, August 1993, p. 181.

Does the Arnett Family Bible record place and cause of death for Maria? I have not found a marriage date or place for John Wiliam & Mary Elizabeth but there is evidence in the birth registers for 1853-79 and 1880-96 of children born to them in Loudoun Co.

If you would like to correspond and compare notes that may help your family research please E-Mail. Best wishes, Jack Varney
