Thanks Pat for taking the time to look. I had thought it was possible that maybe he did marry across the Potomac River in Frederick Co., MD., but since his father Adam Cooper had property in Loudoun Co., VA., when he died in Nov. 1776, and that William, his eldest son took over the Loudoun Co., land that he may have met Elizabeth in that area and married someone from that area.
William Cooper was b. ca. 1760, he would only have been 16 when his father Adam Cooper died, I feel that he probably married around age 20 in 1780, what a lot of responsibilty for a young man. I have a Bond where he promises his father Adam that he would take care of his mother Elizabeth (Stroop) Cooper, and his brothers and sisters.
I feel that he sold the Loudoun property in 1791, as his youngest brother George Cooper who was born ca. 1770/71 had reached his age of 21, and the property had to be settled between his brothers and sisters.
George and his brother Henry Cooper went to Montgomery Co., KY. There were at lease two sisters, Margaret (Cooper) Merritt, and Ula/Ulna (Cooper) Smith. Not real sure of the correct spelling of this first name, but she is listed as a sister in her brother George Cooper's will.
Maybe someone else with recognize this Cooper family who also had property in Berkeley Co., later Jefferson Co. W.V. Thank again for your time Pat. Vi J.
