In Reply to: Any info on Goose Creek burying Grounds Loudoun Co. Va. by Ross Frazier of 1800

Tombstones of Goose Creek Burying Ground are included in the Balch Library online cemetery database. There are no Zimmerman/Simmerman tombstones listed in that cemetery. There is one Fairhurst.

FAIRHURST, J.        Born: unknown      Died: unknown

On another board you posted:
“Our 4 great grandfather Henry Zimmerman, married one Elizabeth [Eliza] Fairhurst on 09-Feb 1803. Eliza is the daughter of Jeremiah Fairhurst and Ann Slaughter. They were members of the Goose Creek "Society of Friends" [Quakers] Eliza was expelled from the Quakers on 25 April 1803. Elizabeth returned to Loudoun Co. after the death of Henry and purchased 47 acres. She died in 1850 and is buried in Goose Creek Cemetery. Any new information would be appreciated. There were no known children from this union.”

What kind of information do you still seek? You know the marriage and approximate death dates, Eliza’s parents, the names of his children by a prior marriage, and the land purchase by Eliza.

I am curious why she would be buried nearly 50 years later in a Quaker cemetery other than the fact that the land she bought in 1807 was near the Goose Creek meeting house? Was Eliza reinstated after Henry’s death, since they had married out of unity? Hinshaw’s Quaker records do not indicate this.
