The land was purchased from James T. Merchant, the son of James Merchant (died in 1859.) The land was originally owned by Philip Baker, father-in-law to James T. Merchant. I recently helped the current owner of that property and house trace the origins of the house.

Burr Simpson was the son of Francis R. Simpson and Deborah M. Merchant. Deborah was the daughter of James Merchant and the sister of James T. Merchant. I descend from another sister, Jane E., who married William Keyes.

Email me directly for a picture of the house as it is today and I will also put you in touch with the current owner. I can also help with additional information on the Merchant line.
