Hi Pat,
Thank you very much for your reply regarding the Winsell (Vencil Wentzel) family in Loudoun County during the mid 1700's. You seem to be very informed about Loudoun County and I was hoping that I could impose on your good nature for a little more information.
According to family lore the first Winsell (Vencil Wentzel) to arrive in America did so on 11 Aug 1750 by way of Rotterdam and his name was Johan Adam Wentzel. He settled in Loudoun County with his wife Elizabeth and that same year they had their first child, a son which they named Adam. As the story goes Adam grew up in Loudoun County, married there and fought in the revolutionary war. On 9 Sep 1781 He had a son who was also named Adam. They remained in Loudoun County until 1795 when the family moved to Rowen County, North Carolina and then to Carter County, Tennessee.
I have been able to research and document my family history back as far as Adam jr. but I am unable to document that Johan Adam Wentzel and his son Adam Vinsell are actually the father and grandfather of my GGG Grandfather Adam Winsell. I am trying see if I can tie them together and hopefully find siblings for both Adam sr. and jr. along with information on their descendents.
Should you or anyone reading this post have any information that could help me I would appreciate it. If not possibly someone could point me in the right direction?
