Thomas Davis <Jr.> d. 1758 in Loudoun Co. He named his heirs were Margaret (his Mother) and John (his brother) Witnesses were Ruth Vernon and Mary Mobley.
The Davis Clearing House Ref: 6651 asserts Benjamin Davis, b. 1712, Nechaminak, Bucks Co., PA was the son of Thomas & Margaret Davis who m. Hannah....of Loudoun Co., VA An IGI Pedigree Chart shows that Benjamin Davis, b. about 1712 s/o Thoms Davis and Margaret, of Necheminnak, Bucks Co., PA and Mrs. Hannah Davis, b. abt 1716 of Loudoun Co. were the parents of John Davis, b. abt 1742.
ChrisH in Davis GenForum msg. 39143 notes that the IGI also shows the Davis family included Abel Davis, b. 1738, Joshua Davis, b. abt 1740 and John Davis , b. abt 1742. Benjamin is shown as s/o Thomas & Margaret and that David Davis & Margaret Evans were the parents of Thomas Davis.
Andrew Arison/Orrison, b. abt 1750 m. Ann Davis abt 1782. Ann, b. abt 1764 is shown as d/o of Benjamin & Hannah. Ann was the mother of Martha Orrison who was named as an heir of Benjamin in his Will of 1803 shown in msg. 1499, Loudoun Co., GenForum. Hannah was also the mother of Howell Davis [1758-1837] and Abel(2)[ca.1764-1847]. The Arison/Orrison family moved to Fayetta Co., PA with their 6 children including John Arison, b. 7 Jun 1780 and d. 1 Mar 1870 in Franklin Twp., Fayette Co., PA
Benjamin & Hannah appear to be my G5 grandparents as I descend from Abel Davis(2) [ca 1764-1847] Abel(2) appears to have m. Mary Huffman, d/o John & Margaret Huffman. John Huffman d. 1792 in Loudoun Co. whose Will, D:252, 1792 is subject of Loudoun Co. GenForum msg. 1510 as corrected by Pat Duncan-(Thanks Pat).
Howell Davis [1759-1837], brother of Abel(2) inheited Benjamins plantation on death of his father in May 1803.
I suspect if Abel(1) b. 1738, (m. Catherine Brown, d/o John & Mary (Tate) Brown) was a half brother of Abel (2) b. ca.1764. Abel(1) appears to be the father of Gideon Davis b. 1780 who m. 1803 Nancy Hughes & gained fame as inventor of a specific plow and Zephaniah Davis., b. 1787 who m. Mary Irey, d/o John B. Irey and Sarah Ann Poole of Loudoun Co.
I hope to prove the line of this Davis family back to the immigrant ancestor. Can anyone can help? Thanks for reading this message.
