Will of Benjamin Davis

I Benjamin Davis of the County of Loudoun and state of Virginia being weak in body but of perfect mind & memory do this 29th day of April in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and ninty nine make and publish this my last Will and Testamentin the manner and form following that is to say first I give and devise to my beloved wife Hannah Davis any reasonal and personal Estate for and during her life time and after her decease I give and bequeath all the tract of Land I now live on to my son Howell Davis his heirs and assigns forever I also give and bequeath to my daughter Ann the sum of twenty shillings. I also give and bequeath to my Grandaughter Martha Orison to be paid out of my Estate left in the hands of my son Howell when she arrives at the age of Eighteen years the sum of twenty pounds I also order direct and devise that after the decease of my beloved wife I give and Bequeath all my personal Estate to be equally divided amongest my four children Viz my son Abel Sarah Rachel and Elizabeth lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my two sons Abel and Howell Davis Executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made In witness thereof I have heereuto set my had and sel he day and year first above written. Signed Sealed published and declared by the above named Benjamin Davis to be his last wsill and Testament.

At a Court held in Loudoun County May the 10th 1803 This last Will and Testament of Benjamin Davis deceased was approved by the oaths of the subscribing witnesses thereto and is directed to be recorded.
And on the motion of Abel Davis and Howell Davis the Executors therein named who made oath thereto and together with William Holmes and Joseph Holmes their securities entered into and acknowledged their Bond in the penalty of Two thousand dollars conditioned as the Law directs Certificate is granted them for obtaining a Probate thereof in due form. The North Fork Primative Baptist Church minutes - May 8 1784 - 13 August 1831 -(at Balsh Library) note Benjamin Davis d. 31 May 1803 which is incorret but may be the date of wirting.
