Thanks so much for your posting-- now I can stop barking up this Hamilton tree!

I am not related to the Postons. Based on the AWT posting they had put up for Sarah Gilasby & James Hamilton, giving his birth date as 1795 (typo?) I was investigating the possibility of him being the oldest son (b. abt. 1794) of my gggg-grandparents, James Hamilton & Elizabeth Bennett. Looks like this is not the case, based on your documentation of his Revolutionary War service & birthdate of 1759.

My James Hamilton Sr. was the son of Virginia Colonial Militia Col. James Hamilton (c.1720-1775), who was also Burgess for Loudoun County 1758-1770; resigned in 1770 to accept office of coroner. He married Priscilla ? who died abt. 1765, then married Jane McGeach/McGeath. Their three children, Mary, John, and James, all married children of Charles Bennett of Loudoun County.

I have another tantalizing link to the Gilasby/Gillaspy family, as the widow of one of the nephews of Elizabeth Bennett Hamilton, Susan W. Brown Bennett, married a Jacob (middle initial T. F., or L.) Gillaspy on 9 Mar 1841 in Loudoun County. They moved to Kalamazoo Michigan.

Do you know if this Jacob Gillaspy is connected in any way to your Sarah Gilasby Hamilton?
