When you state that there is a DNA match with a Moore line, is that a perfect 37 out of 37 marker match? Most who have had DNA testing done with only 25 markers will come up with near matches (2 or more markers are different) of individuals with other surnames. In my own Ball line, Beatty seems to be the surname that is most often 2 markers off in the 25 marker testing.

Doughty, Ruben Doughty first appears on the 1771 tithable list, according to the tithable abstract done by the Sparacios. He is the head of the household on that list.

There are the following from the Loudoun Co Order Books:

Order Book E, 28 May 1772
John HOUGH against Ruben DOUGHTY petition upon a note of hand Defendant failed to appear; Plaintiff to recover against Defendant 4 and costs.

Order Book E, 28 May 1772
Moses POKE against Reuben DOUGHTY petition upon an account- Plaintiff to recover against Defendant 4.3.3 and costs.

Order Book G, 10 May 1779
Reuben DOUGHTY against Jeremiah CLEMONS & Andrew COPELAND upon a replevy bond judgment granted Plaintiff against Defendants for 36. But judgment may be discharged by payment of 18 with 5% interest from 25 January 1779 and costs.

There is a slight possibility that there are loose papers at the courthouse for the above entries. You never know what kind of information appears on those loose papers, so you may want to see if any exist. You can email John Fishback at the courthouse (check the Loudoun Co Clerk of the Court page Archives section for his email address.) Be sure to give him all the information in the abstracts above. He will check the files and let you know the cost of copies if any papers exist.

If you have further questions, please email me directly.
