You might want to check some county personal property tax lists to see where the name appears.

The site at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~ysbinns/vataxlists/ has some tax lists and shows some Callenders in Shenandoah County. Only some of the VA counties have been posted on this site.

You can borrow microfilms of PPT lists via Interlibrary Loan from the Library of Virginia.
