Thank you for your reply. My husband's surname (Nichols) was once Nicholson and they dropped the "son". However, that family was in the Greensboro, NC area very early. The farthest we can go back on that line is to a Green Nichols (b. NC ca. 1808, married about 1832 to an Ellenor ____?) who we think was named after the Rev. War General Nathaniel Greene. This Nichols family married into the Isley family in Guilford, Alamance and Orange counties of NC. My
husband's ancestor married a Cherokee woman named Tacah who is shown living in GA. This Nichols family eventually came to MO and Indian Territory (now OK). I will check for a Thomas.
