Tracy: My g4 grandfather is Abel Davis, b. between 1760-1770. He may be the Abel Davis, heir of Benjamin Davis who d. testate 1803 in Loudoun Co., VA. See his will, Davis GenForum msg. # 29201 that includes Ann Davis. Also see Loudoun Co., VA GenForum msg. # 935 by Frank Tanner. Benjamin's will mentions g. Dau. Martha Orison (could be Arison).
John, b. 1800, son of Abel Davis, m. Mary E. Newland, b. 1801,about 1817/18, parents unknown at present. John's family lived in Monongalia (present day Taylor Co., VA). I can't find m. record in VA and have considered they may have been m. in PA during the Davis family move to Champaign Co., OH. PA, at that time PA did not require m. license. Certainly it would be convenient for them to marry in PA at the home of a relative - perhaps Ann. Do you have further information concerning the Davis/Arison family? Thank you for your consideration.
