Lee county VA deed books or deed index do they exist

HI,

I know there are NO deed books or references at the Lee County Library, at least that is what I received as a reply from the library.

Was told the only source was the Court House. Based on this I am wondering if they have a Deed Index available at the court house?

Reason is, I don't know exactly when my Harris's arrived in Lee, between 1860 and 1870. The last three letters I have written to the Court house many months ago have never been replied to, and I believe it is because I am just giving them a DATE RANGE and not a specific year... If I knew a index existed I would ask them to 1st send that to me... for my requested range.

Anyway, DOES A INDEX exist or do they just thumb through the different years ???

Would appreciate anyone who has done deed research in Lee to share their success stories...

Appreciate,
Mike
