Yokum Station-Lee County, VA

An old Thompson family bible has a handwritten inscription that states that my ggg grandfather, Johnathan Thompson, was born in Paul's River, Gokum Station, KY. I feel certain that the correct spelling should be Powell's River - Yokum Station, KY (actually Lee County, VA). Does anyone know of any records of births, deaths, etc. while people were at Yokum Station? Johnathan's mother was full blooded native american but I am not sure what her name was or what Johnathan's father's name was. There are Thompson's on the census for 1820 and 1830 but I can not find a specific enough match to link them.

Thanks!
