John A. Goldsmith Civil War

I am looking for John Anderson Goldmith, born 1836 in Yancey County, NC and lived in Madison County, NC. He was with a regiment of confederate soldiers from Madison County, NC and was captured in the Cumberland Gap. He came back to Madison County after the war. He left Madison County in the late 1870's and started a second family, possibly in Lee County Virginia. It was never passed down where he lived or was buried. He died Dec. 9, 1891. I would appreciate any information. Thanks!
Lynn Goldsmith
