Hi Ed, thanks for volunteering to do research. I have been trying to get a handle on my Rutherford family from Lee County. My records take me back to Finny Rutherford/Retherford who was in Wythe County in the 1820 and 1830 census and then in Lee County in the 1840 and 1850 federal census. I have no proof, but I believe Finny was the father of my ancestor, Pierce Rutherford who was also found in the 1850 federal census for Lee County.

If you get the opportunity, I am interested in whether there are documents in Lee County, tying Pierce and Finney Rutherford.

Also, Pierce Rutherford is said to have married Elizabeth Graham, daughter of James and Ester (Spencer) Graham of Lee County. Elizabeth appears to have gone to Kentucky with her brothers and children but not with Pierce. Pierce later appears in Kentucky. I have not marriage record for Pierce and Elizabeth and seeing her in Kentucky without her husband, I was wondering if she might also have been divorced.

Let me know if you can do anything for me. Thanks,

Rick Lyons <redlyon@sbcglobal.net>
