The JOHN TACKITT [not TACKETT], b 9 Jun 1801, Perhaps in Lee Co., VA, was the son of Lancaster Tackitt and Elender [no surname known. Don’t know where someone came up with the name of HAMPTON.] This JOHN is found in Franklin & Fayette Co., AL by the 1830 Census, along with many other members of the family. No proof that LANCASTER or his wife were born in Lee Co., VA, but that part of the state is a good guesstimate [probably in Washington or Charlotte Co., VA]. I have a copy of the original family register for the family of LANCASTER TACKITT.
This JOHN, however, was not the same as JOHN noted in the Lee Co., VA census records you note. We have, unfortunately, not determined his parentage. This JOHN had children by Milly, named David M., Francis Marion, Dennis B., and Elizabeth. By his 2nd wife, S. [name not known], he had John Oliver and Richard.
Regards, Jim W. Tackitt
