Could you please look up the marriage of John Thomas and Mary Breeding on 23 Sep 1862. Mary was born 18 Mar 1837, so I'm thinking John might be no more than 10 years older than she - of course, he could be younger, too. John Thomas died 1867 in Lee Co, VA. Date of death not known, but it was before 17 Nov, 1867, dob for their only son, Lawrence Lee Thomas, born in Loudon Co, TN.
I am hopeful of finding who might have posted their bond. I know nothing more of John Thomas other than a family story about 3 brothers coming from Wales. One settled in NY, another in OH and was instrumental in the founding of Oxford College, and the third, settled in Lee Co, VA. I do not know if one of these 3 brothers was our John Thomas or if he was born to one of these three brothers. We do not know the date of entry into the US.
