Great job, Sheila!! What an enormous amount of research and work you have done in posting to this site. I am descended from James Neill, born ca. 1792, VA, who married Dorcas Hopper in 1815, Knox Co KY. I think James was born in the Russell/Lee Co area and I believe his father may have been Arthur Neill. There is an Arthur Neill and an Arthur Neill, Jr., in the Lee Co area; one of them was married to a Rhoda per a land deed naming Arthur Neill and wife, Rhoda. I also believe that my James Neill was probably brother to the William Neill, wife Bathsheba Harrison of Lee Co. whose daughter Belinda, married James Ewing. (do you have proof of the marriage of William to Bathsheba and that she was the daughter of Jeremiah Harrison? I have Early Settlers book, but it doesn't cite a source for that info.) Arthur Neill and John Neill, both over age of 45, are in Knox Co KY census in 1810 -- I'm guessing they are both brothers of this William. I have no proof of those relationships -- just sort of the way the puzzle pieces fit for me -- and may never find proof, I've been researching this family for 25 years and am STUCK at James Neill in Knox Co as far as proof. He and Dorcas moved to Greene Co IN and lived there most of their lives. In 1820 census, Orange Co IN, there is Archibald, James, Arthur and Noble Neill. I don't know that my James Neill is related to Grimes Neill -- Lord love a duck, I'm not sure I'd want to be, he seemed to be quite adept at fiddling with other folks' money -- but we don't know the truth of all these issues. At least his business dealings got him into the court room and we benefited by having records of the family names and relationships. thanks for your good work! Linda Lee, Heidelberg Germany
