I'm looking for any information regarding the battle of Gibson and Wyerman's Mills in Lee County, Virginia, which took place on February 22, 1864.
It was a small skirmish in which Confederate Troops surprised and captured several Union soldiers camped near the area. My 3rd great grandfather, Hiram C. Wireman (Wyerman, Wierman, Weirman, Wyreman), lived at Wyerman's Mill with his family. I'd read some reports on the skirmish and I've been to the location of an old mill that I think was the Wyerman Mill, on Indian Creek.
Just looking to see if anyone has any information regarding the skirmish or would just like to discuss it. Feel free to e-mail me, too, if you wish.
I'm hoping to find someone in the area who would know a lot more about the mills, (including any mills owned by William P. Nash, who at one time owned Wyerman Mill as well as others). Also, I'd be interested to hear any Civil War tales from Lee County.
