HERE IS SOME INFORMATION I HOPE WILL DEVELOP A DISCUSSION,

THIS IS FROM THE 1860 LANCASTER CENSUS. L H DIX WAS RUNNING A STORE AND A STEAM SAWMILL AT WHAT IS NOW MERRY POINT , LANCASTER COUNTY. WHAT I FIND FASCINATING IS THE AMOUNT OF LABOR FROM OUTSIDE OF THE COUNTY IN 1860 WHO HAVE MOVED INTO THE COUNTY. AFTER THE CIVIL WAS THIS WAS NOT UNCOMMON BUT BEFORE IT WAS A STRANGE THING TO FIND.

ALSO THE INDICATIONS OF A STEAM SAWMILL THAT EARLY IS FASCINATING. WOULD LOVE TO FIND OUT ANYTHING ANYONE ELSE MAY HAVE ON THIS SUBJECT

5. THIS MAN IS LISTED AS PHILIP SCHIDEY IN 1866 WHEN HE MARRIES HIS 2ND WIFE
6. PROBABLY THE BROTHER OF MARGARET SEHIDGE, WIFE OF PHILIP

ANOTHER THING I THINK IS IMPORTANT IS THAT BALTIMORE, MARYLAND WAS A VERY IMPORTANT TRADING CENTER FOR THIS AREA IN THE 19TH AND EARLY 20TH CENTURY. I THINK LEWIS DIX PROBABLY RECRUITED HIS LABOR IN BALTIMORE.

WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM ANYONE ON THIS

DAN TAPSCOTT, KILMARNOCK VA

POST SCRIPT--- ANOTHER UNUSUAL THING IS THIS IS TOTALLY NON SLAVE LABOR.
