Your families were a little later to the show than mine -- the sons of William COCKE show up in 1820 and 1830, but William was in Hanover in 1810. There were POWELLs and WALKERs from early days, however. POWELL was often POOLE in the earliest records. If you haven't done so already, have a look at the Library of Virginia database of state and Northern Neck land grants at http://lva1.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com/F/?func=file&file_name=find-b-clas30&local_base=CLAS30. Make sure to use all the variant spellings you know of.
