This book is a biography compiled from various sources on each person that could be found between 1607 and 1635 as being a known resident of Jamestown proper and/or the surrounding area. It is not a family tree and is based on documents found. This book contains the names of about 3000+ people. John Layton and his wife are just two of the residents mentioned. Sorry.

If you descend from a female Layton line, then this is not going to be of help. You will have to begin at the bottom of the tree and prove that you are a descendant of John Layton's thru his dau. I have the same problem. We had to prove that we were related to Thomas Gascoigne. We descend from his dau, Alice. As soon as she married she lost the Gascoigne name. Our family did not know for 365 years that we even had a Jamestown ancestor.
