States: Virginia: Isle of Wight
I and others have shown Nathaniel GAMMON as the first known member of our branch. He was apparently at Basse's Choice in the Jamestown area around 1624, and shows up on a census there as "Nathaniel GAUMON". There is a Gaumon, England, and even a Gaumon Film Company in England. John Camden Hotten shows Natha(?) GAUMON as listed in his book in 1874 of persons who went from Great Britain to the American Plantations, BUT, he uses the same list as mentioned above. Another list maker of this time shows Nathan GAMMON as being at Basse's Choice then. My question is--are there any other mentions of Nathaniel GAMMON in colonial documents, l;ist, etc., that would substantiate his existence, or in fact was this really Nathaniel GAUMON at Basse's Choice??? Does ANYBODY have ANYTHING about a Nathaniel GAMMON during the
1600's in the Jamestown/Norfolk area of Virginia??
