Thomas Wombwell the first, was living in Isle of Wight Co. as early as 1645, for in that year he was appointed by the crown to serve as Clerk of the Isle of Wight Co. Court. He served in this capacity until 1656.
Thomas Womble no,1 along with George Hardy and Peter Hull, received 1,000 acres called
timber Neck around 1640 for transporting 23 persons to the Virginia Colony. Thomas Womble the first was frequently referred to as Captain.
