I am transcribing and plotting several early Isle of Wight patents - here is one for Bridgeman Joyner - 16 Apr 1683 - 200 Ac.
To all &c. Whereas &c. now know ye that I the said Thomas Lord Culpeper doe with the consent of the Counsill of state accordingly give an grant unto Bridgeman Joyner three hundred acres of land scituate between Kingsale swamp and the main blackwater in the Isle of Wight County beginning att a Pine Hodges Counsells corner tree, thense north fifteene degrees east three hundred and ten pole to a pine, then west one hundred and sixty pole to a small Hickary in Thomas Mans head line, and so paralel to his first line three hundred and ten poles by Thomad Man aforsaid to two white oaks, and then by Council East one hundred and sixty pole to the fist station, the said land being due to the said Bridgeman Joyner by and for the transportation of six persons into this collony, whose names are mentioned in the roster under this pattent. To have and to hold &c. To be held &c. yeilding & paying &c. Provided &c. Dated this sixteenth day of April one thousand six hun= =dred eighty three.
