There are several lines of Womble's that I and other members of the Womble Research Group are studying. As far as Southampton Co. goes, I am looking for a Benjamin Wombwell/Womble. His will dated around 1750 (Beaufort Co., NC) mentions him owning land in Southampton Co. His children were (in no particular order) Nathan, Jordan, William and Benjamin.
I am descended from John Womble b. 1756 lived in Edgecombe Co., NC; Nathaniel Green (Edgecombe Co.); Isaac (Nash Co.); Cicero (Nash Co.); Joseph Nathaniel (Nash Co.); Joseph Ollin (Nash Co.); Jack Clifton; ME Robin Denise Womble Autry.
How are you related to the Womble? Are you researching that line? How far back have you gone? To Thomas Wombwell the immigrant? I'd love to hear back from you on this. I have passed on your IOW info to the head of the Womble Research Group. Thanks for sharing it all. Robin Womble Autry
