I, too, have been looking for Sewards Swamp, and agree with the conclusion you have reached. Just to add a little something to the discussion, I found this abstract of a deed:

p. 341 - 5 Mar 1765 ... William THOMAS to Twaits VELLINES ... 200 acres adjoining Sewards Swamp, Benjamin HAILE, the main road and Samuel SIMMONS.
Wit: William TURNER, Isaac MOODY, Phillip MOODY and Elizabeth MOODY.
Rec: 2 May 1765                                                 William THOMAS

I'd venture a guess that sometime after 1765 Sewards Swamp was changed to Vellines Swamp in honor of the above-named Twaits Vellines.
