Permenter/Parmentoe in late 1600s/early 1700s Isle of Wight

I am trying to link the Permenter family from Isle of Wight, VA to the later Permenters in Edgecombe Co., NC. If anyone has any bits of information to add to the following, I'd be most grateful.


John PERMENTER was imported to York River in Virginia on Dec. 21, 1648 by Mr. Richard LEE.

RICHARD LEE, Gent. - 1,250 acres on N side of Yorke River, opposite to the poplar Neck on S side of the river, being land formerly possessed by John Bayles & George Knight & for want of an heir devolved to His Majesty. Due to said Lee for trans. of 24 persons: Wm. Crawford, Henry Hed (or Sled), Wm. Batchelor, Nicho. Merror, Matthew Lee, John Farror, George Way, Chris. Feathergill, Edward Dicks, Wm. David, Joane Peayler (or Peagler), John Lyne, Elizabeth Reds, John Hunt, John Thomas, James Ware, Mary Martin, Peter Parchmore, George Light, Fra. Newton, Geo. Lee, Tho. Kidd, Henry Cloyd, John PERMETER. Note: 400 acres sold to Ralph Green; 400 acres to Geo Austin, and 50 acres to Antho. Savage.

On Nov. 25, 1653, Nathaniel and John PERMENTER were used as land-rights by Francis HALE at Horn Harbour on Mobjack Bay.

John PERMENTER's name was used again by Anthony STEPHENS on Mattapony River (probably the present New Kent Co.) on March 11, 1658.

PARMENTER, Na.: Estate sold by order of Court. Signed by Joseph Godwin, Sherrif. October 23, 1721. [The Great Book, 1719-1729] Page 107. (*assumption is that Nathanial Parmenter died without issue)
