Custer/Kuster

I looked in my few deed books and do not find the Custer name at all. I do not find that name in the VA Tax Records book either. I do know that George Armstrong Custer of West Point was in a wedding in Williamsburg, VA before he left to fight in the Battle of Little Big Horn in 1876. He was in the wedding because he was a Westpoint classmate of the groom.

According to familytreesearch.com, there were men named Joseph and Emmanuel in western Virginia. You might try there.

Deed book I in Isle of Wight covers 1688 - 1704, way to early for the time frame you stated for your Custer men.

Good Luck,
