Judith, Julia, Judy BURRESS ~ VA and East TN

Someone has posted Daniel Rice with a wife named Julia Burreff (on a different site), maybe it is the old style of writing with the funny looking letter S and it should be Burress?? No source is given for her maiden name.

Daniel Rice and wife "Judy" sold land 1785 in Henry Co, VA. Then Daniel and wife "Judith" joined the Big Pigeon Baptist Church in 1789. The church today is located in Cocke Co, TN, but at that time it would have been in what was known as Greene Co, TN and still claimed by NC. Daniel received a NC land grant 1790 recorded in Greene Co, TN records.

I haven't found anyone Henry Co, VA with name of Burreff, but there are people with surname, of various spellings, of Burress on records in Henry Co, VA. I'd like to hear from anyone working on Burress (any spelling) in Henry Co, VA, or even neighboring counties as the county boundaries in that area were changing often in the 1700s.

Daniel took his letter of dismissal in 1812 from the Big Pigeon Baptist Church, later his son Joseph shows up in Rhea Co, TN. Joseph Rice married Mary Miller. What happened to Daniel and his wife?

If I can find some clues to source of this surname for Judy / Judith / Julia, I will follow up on next trip to Salt Lake City, and be more than happy to share anything I find, too ~~ I'm thinking positive.
