Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
A. E. Dickinson was elected pastor of Leigh St. Baptist Church on April 24, 1865, according to "Leigh Street Baptist Church, 1854-1954, A Brief History of its First One Hundred Years in the Service of Christ". Published in 1954 in Richmond, VA. There is a very admirable writeup on Pastor Dickinson and says that he was well loved and respected by many people in Richmond for his charitable works, and "unbounded optimism and enthusiasm". He resigned on October 25, 1869, to join forces with Dr. Jeter in the publication and editorship of the Religious Herald. There is a 2 1/2 page write up on this pastor, and it also cites his work for and with the Army of Northern VA, as well as Virginia Baptist Church in Charlottesville, VA. I can mail a copy of this to you privately if you are still interested.
