Hi Sharon, I can help you with this family. I was so pleased to find your query since I am working on this family at present. Lenora (Dale) Whitaker's brother, Edward Kennedy Dale, married my grandmother's sister, Christine Smith. They moved to Richmond, Virginia from Georgia ca. 1918. Albert Whitaker was the son of Alvord P. Whitaker (b. Apr 1862 in PA, d. in Richmond, VA) and Leonora (Dale) Whitaker,b. Apr 1877 in Beaufort ?, South Carolina. Alvord P. Whitaker was the son of Henry Whitaker (b. 1829, New Jersey) and Sally H. (b. 1834 in New Jersey) Henry and Sally Whitaker had children: 1. Frank A. whitaker, b. Aug 1857, PA. 2. Alvord P. Whitaker, b. Apr 1862, PA, and Jennie S. Whitaker, b. 1866, PA. This family is listed in U.S. Census: 1850 in Spring Garden, Philadelphia, PA. 1860, Towanda, Bradford, PA. 1870 Towanda, Brandford, PA. 1880, Cumberland Co, NJ. Apparently Henry died 1880-1900, since his wife, Sally, is listed 1900 census, Wilmington, New Castle, Delaware. Alvord P. Whitaker (b.Apr 1862 in PA) married in 1899, Lenora Dale (b. Apr 1877). Lenora was the daughter of James Dale and Eliza C. (Doubberly) Dale of Savannah, Georgia. James Dale died ca. 1877 and Eliza married first name unknown Reid. I know nothing about her 2nd husband except his last name and the fact that Eliza Reid is listed as a widow in 1900 census in Savannah. And, of course she is listed in 1910 living with Lenora and Alvord Whitaker in Atlantic City, NJ. Lenora Dale Whitaker had a brother, Edward Kennedy Dale that lived in Richmond, VA, with his wife and children, from about 1918 until he died in 1935. I have a lot of information on the Dales and Dubberlys if you would like it. I need death information on Alvord P. Whitaker and Lenora Whitaker and any other information you might have on their children and grandchildren. If you have access to city directories for Richmond, there is a good deal of information in them about this family. Years ago on a visit to Washington, I stopped by Richmond and copied from them. I'll be glad to share that info also. Looking forward to hearing from you and if you would like to give my email address to the aunt you are helping, I would appreciate hearing from her.
