I am looking for information on the marriages of Mary Field. I have come upon a Mary Field b abt 1664 in Henrico County VA and d before 20 DEC 1718 in Henrico Co.
The puzzling part is that she show up in two lineages within my family - she was married to Edward Jones and had two children: Elizabeth b abt 1685 and Tabitha, b 1688 both in Henrico County.
She is also listed as the wife of Charles Scruggs (b 1665 in England) and was the mother of Judith (Juda) Scruggs, b 1694 in Henrico County.
The problem comes when I find Tabitha Jones marrying William Larner Bradhsaw (1712) and Juda Scruggs marrying John Robinson Jr about 1715.
The son of William Larner Bradhaw and Tabitha Jones, William Bradshaw was b 1726.
The daughter of John Robinson Jr and Juda Scruggs, Nancy Susannah Robinson was b 1730.
Willam Bradshaw and Nancy Susannah Robinson married sometime before 1747 and had twelve children, including my ancestors.
Now, to confuse the issue even more, I have found one GEDCOM file that supports this scenario, but shifts the dates approximately 10-15 years earlier.
Can anyone provide any documentation for what happened? It would be simple to explain this by saying there were two different people named Mary Field in the same place at the same time, but the parents names (Thomas Field and Mary Burton of Henrico County) are the same.
