Hello, Hanover Co., VA Researchers:
I continue to search for family connections to Benjamin HANCOCK b 1735 possibly in York Co., VA; married Mary BEADLES, and died 1805 Hanover Co., VA. Some have assumed that Benjamin's father was a John HANCOCK who may have died in York Co., VA, but I have found nothing that validates a John HANCOCK of York Co. The only son attributed to Benjamin and can be confirmed is Austin HANCOCK because his Revolutionary War pension records names both parents. I have no information on the parents and siblings of Mary BEADLES, nor any dates. Benjamin also owned land in Louisa Co., VA.
Based upon preponderance of information I believe these are other sons of Benjamin and possibly Mary:
William Hancock b Bet. 1745-1751; married Jemima BROCKMAN; and lived in Orange Co., VA.
John Hancock (aka Capt. John of Revolutionary War Militia of Louisa Co.) b 4 Mar 1753; married Nancy Ann GRAVES in Louisa or Spotsylvania Co., VA; and removed to KY then Butler Co., OH. (This is my hubby's line.)
Joseph HANCOCK b 25 Oct 1759; married Nancy Ann DICKINSON/DICKERSON; and lived in Hanover Co., VA.
Austin HANCOCK b 5 0ct 1760; married Ann NUCKOL(D)S/NICHOLS and lived in Louisa Co., VA.
Certainly their were also daughters in this family if my assumption is correct. Because these people lived in what is known as the burned counties little tidbits remain of their heritage and life, but none that definitely connect the four men. After nearly 35 years of research and contact with many other seasoned HANCOCK researchers none have claimed any of these men to be of this proposed family lineages. Clues of family connections appear to connect these men as siblings. Any additional help/clues would be gratefully appreciated.
