My husbands grandmother was a Lacy, from South Boston. If I go back to the time that you are looking for, I find no Lucinda, but what I do have follows. I will go back to the late 1700's and give you what I have.
John Lacy b. abt. 1751,
d. 12 Nov 1819
married a Miss Hodge first and they had 2 children. They were from the Lynchburg area and when she died her family kept the children in that area and raised them their. I have no names of those children.
He left lynchburg and moved to South Boston, and married Alice Livingston b. abt. 1765, (a widow).
d. between 1830-1840
They were married on 9 Sep 1784 in Halifax County, VA.
They had at least 3 children that I have found record of:
Robert Dudley Lacy
b. 17 Jan 1790 in Halifax Va
d. 15 Jul 1843 in Nathalie, VA
John Lacy Jr.
b. abt. 1786
d. abt 1835
b. abt. 1792
Robert was a farmer and a tobacco planter and served in the war of 1812.
He married Elizabeth F. Stubblefield 14 Mar 1813 in South Boston, VA and they had 5 children that I can find record for.
John Henry Lacy (Reverend)
b. 15 Dec 1821 South Boston, VA
d. 21 Mar 1881 Meadville, VA
burried somewhere near Millstone Baptist Church.
William Mumford Lacy
b. abt. 1814
b. 27 Jul 1814
Charles Stanhope Lacy
b. 22 Aug 1824
Robert H. Lacy married Martha Jane Gilbert on 16 Mar 1867 in Chalk Seven, VA. She was born 14 Mar 1840 in Halifax, VA. and died 13 Aug 1865 in Halifax, VA. She died very young and they only had 1 child. I have assumed that she died from complications of childbirth, since she died the year after the child was born.
their only child was:
Robert Dudley Lacy
b. 14 May 1868 in Millstone, Halifax VA
d. 5 Aug 1949 in South Boston, VA
he was a rural mail carrier.
He married Minnie Clifton Barksdale on 28 Mar. 1893 in Meadville, VA. She was born on 31 Dec 1868 in Meadville and died 15 Jan 1938 in South Boston, VA. They were both burried in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
I hope this sheds a little light on some of the Lacy's in this part of Virginia.
