There are no official birth records in any Virginia county before 1853, unless you can find Anglican Church records - none known for Halifax that include births. Even with the records beginning in 1853, they are incomplete, recording only what was reported to the county clerk, and they end in 1896. Official state-mandated birth records begin in 1912.
