I am not contacting you about the slave owner draft but because you are a Brandon. My husband's mother was Ozella Stanfield Dean. Her parents were Thomas Buck and Rebecca Pettus Stanfield. Thomas Buck's parents were Thomas Lowry and Juritha Buck Stanfield. Thomas Lowry's parents were Ephraim and Sarah Powell Stanfield (One of Thomas Lowry's sisters was Elizabeth Stanfield who was m.to Rev Francis Brandon).
Ephraim's father was Robert Stanfield according to his marriage record in Halifax Co. Some years ago we were in Halifax Co. and went to the courthouse to do research about this Stanfield family. We were invited back to their vault where we began looking through the old record books and found the will of Robert Stanfield in the early 1800's. In the will he named his wife as Elizabeth Lowry (note that he included her maiden name) and also named his seven sons. We were new at research and did not copy the Will Bk. and Pg. numbers. They were unable to make a copy because the wills were bound in large books. Later on I found info about another Robert Stanfield whose wife was also Elizabeth. He died about 1811 and named three sons and four daughters in his will.
A lady who has done much research on the Stanfields assumed that this was Robert and Elizabeth Lowry Stanfield because one of their descendants named a son Lowry. Her info is all over the net as well in North Carolina County History Books.
This is my problem---I am quite confident that Ephraim's grandparents were Robert and Elizabeth Lowry Stanfield since Ephraim named six of his sons the same as six of the sons of Robert and Elizabeth Lowry Stanfield as well as naming a daughter Elizabeth (who m.Rev. Francis Brandon) and using Lowry as the middle name of his son Thomas. I have been looking for Ephraim's mother's name and have been unsuccessful. Do you, by any chance, have info about these Stanfields???...TedMonicaD@cs.com
