Do you find any connection between your Charles SMITH and the William SMITH fl 1761 Granville Co NC deed from William GILREATH? The men in this area of Granville Co NC served under Capt William LENOIR and Col Benjamin CLEVELAND, et al.

Descendants of this GILREATH are also in the Greenville Co SC area by late 1700's. I have been looking for information on a William SMITH who purchased land on the Reedy River from a FORD in 1790 Greenville Co SC. The witnesses were all FORDs which might suggest a family connection between SMITH and FORD.

I was searching for LOFTIS or LOFTON individuals this morning and found that GOODLETTs, PETTYPOOLs, STREETs and WESTMORELANDs were in Halifax Co VA in the mid 1700's. Some descendants of these families are on the Tyger R in upper SC by late 1700's.

This is probably too broad a stretch; but, I will send you the notes I've compiled if you think there's a connection.

Any comments will be greatly appreciated.
