Knowing that I was going to the coutyhouse today I jotted down the info in your post. Looking up the marriage license it says the license was issued Nov. 27,1869 to Claiborne C. Mason and Pattie D. Crowder. He was 21 and she was 18. both were born in Halifax County. He was listed as a farmer, neither had been married before. His parents were C.B. and Mary J. Mason and her parents were Giles N. and Ann L. Crowder. I could not find a marriage for C.B. but did find the marriage bond for Giles N. Crowder and Ann Lewis Spencer. They were married July 28,1846 and she signed her own consent. I looked for wills but C.B. Mason didn`t have a will but in Will Book 31 it gives the account of sale of the estate of C.B. Mason, deceased. The sale was June 30,1873 and your C.C. Mason bought a lot of the stuff involved. Giles N. Crowder left a will. It`s in will book 38 page 161. He wrote in 1902 and it was probated in 1907. Your Martha D. Mason is named in the will. Oh by the way Claiborne and Pattie were married at the home of her dad by Richard Dunkley......Jack
