Enid: In the olden days men were not able to own property until they were freemen and after they were 21 years of age. Your John whom died after 1830 at the age of 80 plus would have certainly been born about,1750.If
his father was Benjamin, Benjamin would have been born say ca. 1705-1730.
Does the will you have a copy of, name any of his children or wife? If so are there any
dates with which I could do some research with? I have found a John Martin that was born ca 1750 and married Elizabeth D. Terry
2-26-1779 in Halifax co., Virginia.
I also found a Benjamin Martin that had
nine children including a Benjamin jr. whom was born in Spotsylvania co., Virginia in 1740.This Benjamn jr. could be the brother of your John born in 1750.
Mull this over and reply with whatever other info you have on this family!
