Kaye you are on the right track. Jacob can be followed in land records leaving Bedford, entering Halifax, leaving Halifax just before he begins getting land in Wilkes. With the name Micajah occurring in Jacob's line, it's reasonable to believe they were brothers. The grantor index in Halifax indicated Micajah departed there about 1787, and he is on the Bubcombe Co NC Census by 1800. Haven't checked 1790 for him.
