Edmund Martin, Mary Polly High, Halifax
Posted by: Susan Date: April 06, 2000 at 05:54:34
  of 1495

Edmund Martin born ca 1778 in Virginia married in Halifax Co., VA January 3, 1803 a Miss Mary Polly High, daughter of Benjamin William & Sarah Russell High, born ca 1780 in Virginia. In 1805 John Polly Martin & twin brother, Thomas Martin were born in Halifax Co., to Edmund and Polly. 1806 Polly died in Halifax. Between 1807 & 1810 the Benjamin High's migrate with the twins to Spartanburg Co., SC where they can be found on the 1810 census. 1817 Benjamin High dies with will. 1830 John Polly Martin marries a widow, Elizabeth Bomar Hempley, born 1799 & daughter of Edward & Mary Wood Bomar, formerly of Halifax. It appears that Edmund martin did not migrate with his children and inlaws to SC. He did not die in Halifax as far as I can search the public records. I would assume that Edmund would have remarried after Mary Polly's death, perhaps as early as 1807. Does anyone have an Edmund Martin in their families? Thankyou...Susan
