If you still have the property book for Halifax, Virginia I would appreciate if you'd look for my ancestor. His surname is Tune & given name Travis, also spelled as Traverse or Travers.
I'm interested in land he may have owned prior to 1770, in particular these references:
February Court 1762
William Powell is appointed Surveyor of the road in the room of John Light, and it is ordered that he, with William Childree, Joseph Irby, Thomas Hilton, Benjamin Dickson, James Mackendree’s male tithables, and Travis Tune, do clear and keep the road in repair.
14 March 1765
Entry Record Book, 1737-1770 (Land Entries in the Present Counties of Halifax, Pittsylvania, Henry, Franklin and Patrick), page 274 transcribed by Marian Dodson Chiarito
(1765 14th March)
"William Beam's(sic) 400 Ac on the branches of the Crabtree fork of Snow Cr. Adj.g Choice's & Tune's Lines"
***Notes by Gloria J. Tune--Likely this is William "Bean", rather than "Beam", a well known and prominent figure in Pittsylvania County. Also living in Pittsylvania and well recorded was a Tully Choice.
Should you locate the land of either William Bean or Tully Choice, but do not find Travis Tune listed next to them, would you let me know who might also own any adjacent land, in the event Travis Tune may have been renting rather than owning.
I would be happy to pay for copies of any information you may find for him.
Thanks so much,
