We have found records in old lunenberg Co. VA of a Thomas Hilton who was on Terrible Creek. It appears that there might have even been town meetings held at his place. It also would appear that he was censured by the church for not bringing up his children in a Christian Manner. One of His sons, Abraham Hilton joined the Revolutionary war from this area. Abraham filed his pension in GA the last part of his life. The descendants of these Hiltons have DNA tested Native American. ANy information at all on this family would be a wonderful help to our research.
Abraham Helton joins the Revolution from VA.
Peter Hilton his brother joins from Surry NC.
Beecham Hilton/Helton was a guard at the jail I think in Guiliford NC. Lucinda Hilton married John Mabe in Rockingham and settled in Stokes Co. NC. By 1800 most of them are in Burke CO. NC or listed in Rowan Co. Other brothers were Jeremiah Hilton, Eliphas Hilton and Thomas Hilton Jr,
The Thomas Hilton of Terrible Creek VA moved to the Dan River in NC. Thanks in advance for your help. Mike Helton
