Am seeking any info in Halifax records pertaining to the following:
James Sutherland (19) from Dornock, Scotland served as a Midshipman on the Schooner SULTANA starting in August 1768 for one year. The schooner was bought (new) by the British Navy and was assigned to North America. The crew was made up of men who either were “pressed” into service or were poor or sought passage to America....he was discharged in August of 1769 in Halifax, VA.
